Hanging out in dad's hat

One of Colby's favorite words is 'hat' and he also loves to model whichever of daddy's hats is laying around.

Snow!

We finally got the snow that was forecasted - about 4 to 5 inches mixed with sleet. Too bad it was on a Saturday :( Colby wasn't too sure what to do in it so he just rode around in the stroller. He did enjoy sledding with mom and dad, and watching the neighbors sled.

January

Colby is growing up fast! He's running around everywhere, and learning new words. He says bye-bye with a really thick southern accent, hat, hot, ba (bath), da (dog), poon (moon), shez (shoes), cheez (cheese), but no ma-ma or da-da. A duck says cack-cack, and a cow says moo. He's using some sign language - more, milk and all done. Everything that is lit up is hot (probably because we told him the lights on the Christmas tree were hot). This is not a bad thing because he seems to know that he should not touch things that are hot. Colby has also been teething lately which translates to not much sleep for anyone! Those darn molars are causing all of us a lot of pain!!! We have not cut his hair yet and are enjoying his mullet! Although people at the grocery store have a hard time telling if he is a girl or a boy sometimes : )

These pictures are from a morning spent at a kid's museum here in Raleigh.

Christmas

We are not very timely with our posts anymore, but here are some pictures from Christmas. We spent a couple of nights in Fayetteville, and a couple in Monroe. Colby had a blast and enjoyed tearing the paper off the gifts. And of course he got way too much stuff!

Road trip!

I don't know if we are brave, stupid, or crazy, but we decided to drive from Raleigh to Long Island, NY for Uncle Chris's wedding. We thought it would be fun to visit friends and family along the way and see a few sites. We did all of that, and had a great time. Colby is an excellent traveller, and sleeps beautifully in the car. We were so excited to be able to spend a whole week with him, but his nanny, Carrie, missed him a lot!

We were able to visit with friends in DC, family in Maryland, tour the Amish country in Pennsylvania, hike and fish in the Catskill mountains, and take a ferry ride to Long Island for the wedding. The weather was perfect, and it was quite shocking to see the temperature reading in the car rise from around 75 to 109 during our 12 ride back to Raleigh. Our rock-star baby rode all the way from Long Island to Raleigh with very few complaints!
